Appendix B Program Update - August 2016
Otek Corporation continues to make great progress in our efforts to update our procedures in order be a direct supplier to the US Nuclear Power Fleet. Our plan is to manufacture, sell and support Otek Intelligent Instruments for Class 1E Nuclear Safety Related applications as specified under NRC regulations 10CFR50 Appendix B and 10CFR21.
Within the last several weeks, the Otek team has accomplished the following objectives:
- All Otek inspection and test personnel have been certified to perform verification activities (inspections, in-process and final testing) of Basic Components (i.e. instruments to be used in Class 1E Nuclear Safety Related applications).
- Otek updated our internal procedures for dedicating the calibration services provided by calibration service suppliers accredited by an accrediting body recognized by ILAC MRA. The accreditation encompasses ISO/IEC-17025-2005, "General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories."
- We have begun preparations to perform formal Software Verification and Validation (SV&V) activities on the 3 and 4 channel versions of the Otek NTM product line. NOTE: SV&V activities have already been completed on the 1 & 2 channel versions of the NTM product line.
- We have begun documenting our new manufacturing procedures for Basic Components and expect to have all procedures finalized and approved during September 2016.
Otek currently has procedures in place under our 10CFR50 Appendix B program to manufacture and test any Otek product currently in-service in the US Nuclear Fleet. These instruments were purchased from and dedicated by third-party qualifiers. We have been actively contacting those sites that have our Hi-Q generation of Otek Intelligent Instruments in order to provide them with nuclear-ready spares at much lower, factory-direct prices than they could obtain from resellers.
Stay tuned for further progress on Otek’s Appendix B program.
